Methodology
What each figure in RAN means, and what it does not mean.
Overview
RAN describes activity. It reports what was observed for a wallet or an asset within a window, and it names the window. It does not rate participants, rank them by expected return, or suggest an action.
Where a figure is derived rather than read directly, this page says how. Where a capability is described but not implemented, it is marked as such rather than implied.
Wallet activity
A wallet profile groups the events an address appears in, counts them by kind, and shows the assets it holds.
- Activity
- A descriptive band — high, medium or low — reflecting how often the address appears in the observed window relative to other addresses in the same set. It is not a score and carries no weighting.
- Diversification
- A description of how many distinct assets the address holds, and how evenly. It says nothing about the quality of those positions.
- Recent movement
- Whether the address has appeared in activity recently, derived from the time since its most recent observed event.
- Age
- Days since the earliest activity observed for the address, which is not necessarily the date it was created.
Not available
Profit and loss, cost basis, and realised return are not calculated in the current release.
Asset metrics
Asset figures are reported as published by the source, with the window stated beside them.
- Price and change
- The latest observed price, and its change across the stated window. Change over a window longer than the available history is reported over the period that exists.
- Liquidity
- The value observed in pools associated with the asset at read time. It moves, and a single reading is not a guarantee of depth.
- Volume
- The traded value observed within the stated window.
- Holder concentration
- A description of how much of the observed supply the largest holders account for. Reported as low, moderate or high, with the top-five share shown beside it.
Market activity
The activity stream is a single ordered list of events. Each event records its kind, the address involved, the asset involved, the value, and how long ago it was observed. Buys, sells, liquidity events and transfers are separated by kind rather than merged into a net figure.
Accumulation and distribution on the discovery screen describe net direction within the sample window only. They are observations about a period, not a claim about intent and not a prediction.
Signals
Signals are factual observations with a stated basis, shown beside the figure they came from. A signal never asserts that an asset or a wallet is good, safe, or worth following.
RAN deliberately does not publish composite scores. A single number blending liquidity, concentration and activity would hide the judgement inside it, and that judgement is exactly what a reader should be making.
Not available
Scored or weighted signals are not part of this release. If they are added, the weights will be published here first.
Data limitations
This release runs on a fixed sample set. Nothing shown in the product is read from the network, and the figures do not update.
- Coverage
- Only the assets and addresses included in the sample set resolve. Searching for anything else returns no result.
- Freshness
- Relative times such as 2m ago are fixed sample values and do not advance.
- Completeness
- An absent event means it is absent from the sample, not that it did not happen.
- Accuracy
- No accuracy claim is made about any figure in this release, because none of them are measured.
